Everyone wants to become Mark Zuckerberg, Mukesh Ambani, Sachin Tendulkar or Chanda Kochhar. But, very few are ready to install habits and determination that goes into steering towards career success.
If you want to become as successful as these people in your career, start practising the following habits in your everyday life.
- Sleep Early, Wake up Early
It is said that every morning gives you two choices – continue to sleep to dream or wake up to chase your dreams. When you wake up as early as 5 or 6 am, that time is exclusively yours. It gives you a head start to your daily routine. Your mind is fresh and your body is full of fresh energy. It is the optimum time to think and plan your day. So, stick to an ‘early to bed, early to rise’ routine.
- Give Exercise to Your Mind and Body
In your daily routine, take out about 30-45 minutes to push your body. Go for a walk, play tennis or simply meditate. Exercise not only has benefits for your physical fitness, but it activates your brain cells as well. If you lack the motivation to build a healthy exercise routine, you could join a fitness group or tag along with a fitness buddy. Did you know that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicates half an hour of his day to yoga? Richard Branson, Founder of Virgin Group, swims and plays tennis every day!
- Feed Your Mind with Reading
Warren Buffet, CEO of Berkshire Hathway loves to spend 80% of the time his reading! His days start with reading six newspapers every morning. Books are fodder for your mind. They enlighten you with new knowledge and give you the power of information. Reading is also known to reduce stress, strengthen your analytical skills, boost your memory and improve your concentration power. Your body needs food to survive; your mind needs books for simulation!
- Spend Quality Time with Family
Sometimes, in pursuit of your career goals, you forget to maintain a work-life balance. You tend to take your family and friends for granted. But, remember that it is family who always stays by your side, whether its storm or earthquake. Spending time with your loved ones is like your morale booster. If they are happy, you will be happy too. Jack Ma, Founder of Alibaba Group, says that life is all about taking out time to enjoy with family.
- Be Humble
If you let success go over your head, you can become egoistic and ruthless. Be humble in your approach. Thank the almighty as well as people who are/were part of your journey to success.
