Watch out for these Top Trends HR in 2022

HR is the one field that can impact the growth in your business through simple and small changes in its policies. This is because sometimes even the smallest change in, say, office setting will lead to drastic changes in employee performance. Recruiters and organizations have realized this big-time through people analytics in 2023 and hence, most organizations or their employees have already begun seeing these changes.

Top Trends in HR 2022

With the increased use of human resource software, here are a few trends in HR to look out for in 2023:

  • Employee experience will take precedence: Until now, employee engagement has been propagated as a successful strategy for improving employee performance. With people analytics, employee experience will take its place. Simply engaging employees may not be sufficient anymore, the overall experience must be enjoyable for them. Enjoying the work-space means being stress-free and hence, more productive. Similar to customer journey maps, leaders will now look to create and analyze employee journey maps.

  • Digitizing HR would take centerstage: This is directly related to the point above. The work-space needs to be digitized first in order to create a database which can be analysed. AI and machine learning tools like getting links and Arya are not just lowering the cost of recruitment but are also making recruitment a lot easier. Within the Asian market, and especially in India, companies are still in a fairly nascent stage of HR practices. In such countries, the opportunity for leapfrogging and using the latest in technology is great.

  • People analytics as part of organizational practices: Big data and analytics are growing everywhere. A big trend for 2023 would be organizations adopting people analytics as part of regular HR practices. In order to attain this, the organization would need to be digitized, as discussed above, the databases would have to be merged and several data requests would have to be prioritized. However, this would ease the lives of employees as it would be easier to get leave sanctions, claims and to track lifestyle and medical benefits as well as employee records. The gap between employees, senior management and team leaders would reduce making communication flow easier.

  • The emergence of “Gig economy”: The marketplace is rife with remote working and contract job opportunities. Companies are now providing a lot of contracts and freelance opportunities in recognition of several constraints faced by employees such as travel time and cost, need for social and family life etc. Providing short term contracts is also beneficial from an HR perspective as the company does not have to take care of taxes, insurance and other benefits of the “contractors” and they have to handle all of this on their own. Moreover, it is easy to find a large number of contractors with the requisite skill and hence, recruiters can negotiate, thereby lowering costs. Flexi work options improve an employer’s value proposition thereby helping retain good talent for longer periods.

All the above are positive trends for employees and one can be looking at a better workplace in 2023. From a business management perspective as well, this shows great employee retention and improved productivity possibility.
