About this course

Analytics plays an important role in a team and helps make better decisions for an organization based on data. This course is intended towards understanding the basic concepts of analytics and their use in e-commerce.

Given the importance of e-commerce in today’s economy, and the importance of analytics in e-commerce, this course attempts to synchronize these two areas. The course provides a short refresher on statistics and introduces esoteric topics like market basket analysis, recommendation engines, assortment optimization, etc. The course comprises mathematical and statistical techniques along with providing an understanding of the data and interpreting it appropriately in the business context. Though there are courses on analytics and supply chain in general, there is a need to use analytical techniques in the context of e-commerce. This helps in developing the analytical skill sets for people specifically for decision-making in e-commerce firms.

In the present world, where data is valued as an asset, it is essential to use the data appropriately for business growth. The program is designed for developing participants to constructively use the techniques in their respective work areas. The program is tailored to address this gap between analytics and its application in e-commerce. Various cases and applications will be covered from different domains in the e-commerce economy. To preside over a successful implementation of supply chain management and analytics techniques in the organization the managers must have a good understanding of the basics, and get a practical understanding of the subject before applying it in the real world. The tools that we will use are Python, R and Excel.
